Aries Ascendant Mangal Dosha

Mars or Mangal Dosha, (Kuja Dosha, Angaraka Dosha, also known as Mangalik) is often identified  by the presence of Mars in the first, second, fourth, seventh, eighth or twelfth house from  Lagna (Ascendant) in Vedic Astrology. It ruins the harmony in the marriage. We examine effect of presence of Mars in these Dosh causing houses for Aries (Mesha) rising sign (lagna) or Ascendant.

For Aries Ascendant, Mars as owner of Ascendant and the 8th house is malefic. However, as lord of Ascendant which is stronger than the 8th house, Mars gives the results of Ascendant predominantly. So over-all, Mars is benefic provided he is unafflicted. For females specially Mars in Ascendant or the 8th house is good for long married life. Mars must be free from affliction, aspect or conjunction of Venus, Mer­cury, Saturn, Rahu or Ketu. Conjunction of lie Sun or Jupiter in the 8th is specially beneficial for both females and males.

Ascendant: Mars in own house and in Ascendant indicates self and body and aspects the 7th house which is Ascendant of spouse. His aspect is bad for married life. Otherwise the native makes a good administrator, wealthy, landlord and is successful in life. His aspect on the house of longevity of the spouse, the 8th house, indicates the same result. The 7th to 7th house is Ascendant where Mars, if posited, may give impaired health and scar on body denoted by the sign. Aspect on the 4th afflicts the longevity of mother and spouse. Being the 8th house, a bad house, he gives the effects of house, where he is placed, that is of the 1st house. A malefic lord of kendra is a benefic in the matters indicated above. Thus, Mars in the 1st house of Aries Ascendant creates many complications in conjugal life, happiness and pleasure, etc. But since Mars is in his own sign, no dosha arises.

The 2nd House : This house denotes family. Taurus is a fixed sign, the lord of which is Venus, Mars aspects the 5th, the 8th and the 9th houses. The aspect on the 8th house causes death of spouse as the 8th house denotes death of individual. Here it does not fall within any exception. So Kuja Dosha is formed unless aspected or conjoined with benefic Jupiter. The 2nd house denotes family. The impairment of family is a big blow. So analyze Mars here very carefully. Kuja Dosha is warded off only if the signs are Virgo or Gemini.

The 4th House : This house indicates happiness in the family, the 4th lord being lord of happiness. Here Mars aspects the 7th house, the house of spouse. So both the above points are afflicted. This will not cause death of the partner but family happiness and spouse will be impaired. But Mars in the house of the Moon cancels the dosha, also Mars in the 4th house if in Aries or Scorpio does not form Kuja Dosha. Moreover it is a moveable sign.

The 7th House : Mars in the house of his enemy Venus (Libra) aspecting Ascendant and the 2nd house produces evil effects but no Kuja Dosha exists as it is a house of Venus.

The 8th House : Mars in own sign Scorpio as indicated above is beneficial. His aspect on the 2nd house will not cause evils, so no dosha. This house denotes death of individual.

The 12th House : Mars in Pisces, the lord of which is Jupiter exempts him from forming Kuja Dosha. No doubt he aspects the 7th house. He carries over effects of Jupiter. The 12th house indicates bed pleasures, sleeping comforts, etc. So no dosha.
