Bhishma Ekadasi falls on 26th January 2010, on Republic Day of India. It is the day when Bheeshma, the great hero of the Mahabharata, voluntarily gave up his life on the battle field of Kurukshetra. Bheeshma Ekadashi is observed on Shukla Ekadasi in Magh month or Magha masam. The Satyanarayana vratam is a powerful vratams of the Annavaram temple, Andhra Pradesh, dedicated to Vishnu Sahasranamam and is performed on the Bhishma Ekadasi day at Annavaram temple for Lord Satyanarayanaswamy.
