Russia in conflict (August 1978/2008) & Saturn in Leo
Russia continues to battle Georgian forces on land and sea, about 2000 dead since the conflict with neighboring Georgia started on 8th August. The date is significant. Thirty years ago, on approximately the same date (same sun position), August 7th, 1978, the initial Soviet deployment of the 40th Army in Afghanistan began. The time gap of thirty years reminds us of Saturn’s synodic period as we recently noted in our discussion on the Naina stampede tragedy. In both times, Saturn is in Leo as per Indian Vedic astrology.
We pray the Russian-Georgian conflict is resolved soon. However, we are also wary of this conflict (in light of how events evolved in Afghanistan) coming in the aftermath a total solar eclipse (August 1st 2008) and preceding a partial lunar eclipse on August 16th 2008.
