Remedial Measure in Vedic Astrology
Remedial Measure in Vedic Astrology (Jyotish) allows an individual to seek mitigation of his/her suffering. Life problems arising from poverty, no child issue, unhappy marital relationship, family troubles, job / career problems, deadly accidents, illness, health problems, mental stress, depression and loneliness etc.. make living difficult. Vedic Astrology suggests remedies to seek relief from these intolerable sufferings. The remedial measures lessen the negative energies of an individual and make him/her perform conscious efforts towards peace, harmony and prosperity in his life.
Remedial Measures may include Meditation, Yoga, Ayurveda, chanting (Japa) of Vedic prayers (Mantras), wearing of gemstones (Ratnas), fasting (Upavash) on certain days, wearing amulets (Yantras or Kavachas), donating to the poor (Daana), offering selfless services (Sheva) to others, contributing to Vedic fire-rituals (Yajnas) etc..
Vedic astrology, despite its very strong ties with the Karmic hypothesis and its implied ‘fatalistic’ misconception, has a very well developed and detailed remedial system. The whole purpose of remedial system is to foster a sense of true surrender to the supreme in an individual and thus make him/her rise over individual sufferings by looking at life in a larger perspective. The remedial measures have an impact only when administered in an environment of surrender.
A Vedic Astrologer can guide an individual towards appropriate remedial measures by analyzing his or her horoscope, planetary strengths and dasha/mahadasha time periods.
